CT Spotlight

Hi, today you all get a chance to learn more about Sherry, aka rainervu

Do you have spouse/children:
I am married to Aaron - we've been married 8 years, now. And we have one daughter - Isabella, who is 3-1/2. She was born 1/1/07.

What do you like to do in your spare time:
Well, these days, digi scrap. But, also read, watch movies, sew on quilts (pretending I actually can do it!), explore new places

When did you start digital scrapbooking:
about 3 months ago - in May '10. I was determined I was never going to. I like the dimension of paper scrapping, and thought why would I ever? Then, all of a sudden (thanks to watching a friend, one night), I crossed over. And I LOVE it! Way too much, I'm sure.

What would be your ultimate dream vacation:
Wow...travel for a month in Italy, maybe? Or, in the US, just spending time in Napa and Alexander valleys in CA. I love that area!

What is your favorite food: anything Italian

What is your favorite TV show:
Used to be ER. Then 24. Now....I'm afraid to become too hooked. It'll just end. haha! I like Criminal Minds the best of anything we watch, right now.
Describe yourself in one word:
Just one?

Challenge and a new kit!

Hi!  I hope everyone's been having a good week and a good start to Fall.  Where I live, the weather has been absolutely beautiful, the past couple of days.  Making it a little harder to scrap, as it's perfect outdoor weather.  But, I managed to do a couple of pages, regardless!  How about you?  Did you try any challenges?  I've done so many, the past few weeks, including, finally, the one our own Sarah suggested.
This is her challenge, originally posted on August 17:
Scrap with a List Challenge

You will need:
3 or more papers
2 frames
1 swirl, ribbon or cluster
1 tag
1 photo
stitching

Directions:
Stack your papers and rotate them around to make a messy pile.
Position one of your frames on top of the other, highlighting a portion of the photo.
Place your photo under the frames.
Tuck your tag under the side of the frame.
Place the stitching along one edge of the photo.
On the opposite side, place your ribbon, swirl or cluster.
Add shadows to your papers and elements.
Journal on your tag.

Here is my layout from that:
Has anyone else done the challenge?  If so, we'd love to see, so post in the comments.

Also, I wanted to let you know - Mel has a new kit, just in time for Halloween.  It's a collaboration with Danimoy Designs, and it's called Spooktacular.

I did a couple of layouts from the kit:

You can get the kit from Gotta Pixel
Scrapbook-Bytes
or
SugarHill Co.
And, that leads me to another great announcement.  You can now get many of Mel's wonderful designs at http://www.sugarhillco.com/.  Check it out!

Okay - I think that's about all I have for this time.  I'll be back again in October.  But, keep reading the blog.  Our other CT members will have some great posts, and I'm guessing some really awesome freebies!!
In the meantime - have fun scrapping.  And remember - challenge yourself!

To Template or Not to Template...

How is scrapping going?  It's been a while since I've posted on the blog.  But, I've been having fun with different layouts and challenges.  I've discovered I'm really hooked on templates.  It made me wonder - how many digiscrappers out there rely on templates most of the time, and how many come up with their own original layouts?
Kristy recently posted this layout that is her own design, no template.  I thought it was beautiful, so had to share here:
2010-09-grandpa

The kit she used is "End of Summer Blues", which you can get at Gotta Pixel here.

I am very inspired to try doing more layouts without templates.  If you want to share any layouts you've done without templates, I'd love to see!  Leave a gallery link in the comment and I'll check it out!  And, if you are totally addicted to templates, remember Mel has many wonderful ones available in the stores at Gotta Pixel and Scrapbook-bytes.

Now - one last thing.  In my previous blog post, last month, I told you I was going to try the challenge that Sarah posted.  I haven't done it, yet.  But, that has made it to the top of my scrapbook priority list, and will show how it turned out when I post, again.
In the meantime, Happy Scrapping!
-Sherry
